PROFESSIONAL Learning for educators

Through our educator professional development programs, we provide a variety of opportunities and resources to help educators across the country support their students and prepare them for success in the classroom and beyond.

Micro-Credentials and Certification

Educators will have the opportunity to receive a micro-credential for each STEM Studio workshop they attend. Additionally, by participating in a STEM Studio workshop, educators will receive a certificate from TGR Foundation for 12 hours of professional learning credit. STEM Studio is approved for 12 LAUSD workshop hours toward salary point credit.

STEM STUDIO

Offered at no cost for educators through the summer – STEM Studio is a robust educator professional learning program that helps educators incorporate inquiry-based teaching and learning strategies into their teaching. Emphasizing active, student-centered practices, STEM Studio is a collaborative and supportive three-phased training program for K-12 teachers:

  • Phase 1 – Developing Inquiry Mindsets
  • Phase 2 – Making Inquiry Visible
  • Phase 3 – Creating Inquiry Environment

Day program

During the school day, the Learning Lab welcomes fifth and sixth grade students for an immersive, STEM-based field trip, providing a unique hands-on learning experience.

While students explore STEM education and career pathways through project-based learning in subjects like Forensic Science, Marine Biology, or Biotechnology, their teachers engage in professional development sessions. These sessions equip educators with tools, strategies, and best practices to bring back to their classrooms, enhancing the overall learning experience for their students.
