This spring, our students didn’t just learn. They explored, created, competed, questioned and dreamed bigger than ever before.

For our youngest learners, curiosity led the way. Third-grade students had an opportunity to video call an astronaut, asking questions about life in space and learning that STEM careers are possible for them too.
Fourth graders transformed classrooms into innovation labs filled with arctic landscapes, engineering challenges and rocket launch pads. Meanwhile, fifth graders brought robots to life through LEGO Robotics, building the coding, problem-solving and teamwork skills that will serve them long after the final brick is snapped into place.
Middle school students spent the spring proving that learning doesn’t have to stay inside four walls. Through Creek Detectives, students stepped into the role of environmental scientists, investigating local ecosystems and exploring the challenges and opportunities hidden within their own community. Others became game developers, designing and coding original video games from the ground up.

By 3:30pm each Thursday we had a line of high school students out the door. The spring session was the first time they could freely record their music in an industry level recording studio. Through our Music Industry Lab, students explored the business of entertainment, discovering career pathways many had never considered before.
Advanced Photography students strengthened both their technical skills and artistic voices, creating portfolios that tell stories through their own lenses.
Perhaps no group embodied the spirit of perseverance quite like our robotics team.
After months of building, testing, troubleshooting and rebuilding, our students earned the opportunity to compete on a world stage. The inaugural Tiger Robotics Team represented Philadelphia with pride and returned home with the Rookie All-Star Award — a remarkable achievement that reflects not only their technical skill, but their leadership, resilience and commitment to learning, growing and preparing for their future.

The community also celebrated significant milestones with our first class of Learning Lab seniors preparing to take their next steps into college, careers, and new opportunities at our inaugural Senior Recognition Night. These students helped shape the culture of our Lab from day one. They were the first to take chances on new programs, mentor younger students, and show what is possible when talent meets opportunity.
Many have already committed to returning as volunteers, mentors and role models for the students following behind them. Their impact will continue long after graduation day.
As we look back on an incredible spring session, we’re reminded that the future isn’t something our students are waiting for; they’re already building it as they uncover, they are capable of more than they ever imagined.
